Action Computer Assistance Incorporated (ACAI) was started by Harvey and Jack Frank in July 1993. Our previous employer, an international electrical contractor (Fischbach and Moore, Incorporated), decided to move out of the Denver market. We felt that this was a good opportunity for us to offer to the general market the services which we had been performing for one contractor for over thirty years.
Harvey worked for Fischbach and Moore, Incorporated from 1959 to 1993, and Jack joined the firm from 1970 to 1993. Thus, ACAI is based on a total of over 75 years continuing experience in the successful administration of all types of construction projects throughout the United States.
Our mission is to assist construction organizations in all aspects of contract administration, and to assist small businesses and individuals to derive the maximum benefit from their computer systems.
In the early 70's there were no computer programs available to assist us in managing construction projects, so we were forced to create our own programs for any task which could benefit from computerization. This resulted in our development of a large amount of custom software, including estimating, payroll, material control, raceway and cable control, scheduling, and job cost systems.
Along the way we have been involved in the setup and management of a variety of computer hardware and software, from IBM/CDC mainframes to DEC mini-computers to Personal Computers. Our involvement with the computer industry, and the satisfaction gained from helping others to better utilize this powerful productivity tool, led to our decision to include computer services in the offerings of ACAI.
Some of the construction projects in which ACAI has been involved in the last five years include estimating assistance on the Experience Music Project and the remodel and update of HEC Ed Pavilion, both in Seattle WA; an addition to Lake Forest Water Treatment Plant near Chicago IL; and the South Pole Station modernization at the South Pole. We have also been involved in scheduling assistance on a number of projects, including the Pepsi Center in Denver CO; MetroLink lightrail in St. Louis MO; the HP Genesis fabrication plant in Fort Collins CO; an Intel fabrication plant in Colorado Springs CO; the Lake Road Combined Cycle Power Plant in Dayville CT; a Library and Arts/Music Facility at Cuesta College near San Luis Obispo CA; and the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara CA. We also provide electrical estimating services to insurance companies to assist in determining the value after fires and other disasters.
